LIULISHUO, a Shanghai-based company that offers an English-learning platform for Chinese speakers, has raised $100 million in a Series C round led by China Media Capital and Wu Capital. Previous investors Trustbridge Partners, IDG Capital, GGV Capital, Cherubic Ventures and Hearst Ventures also joined the round.
Founded in 2012, the tool claims to use artificial intelligence to assess a user’s English skills and customize content based on his or her abilities. According to DealStreetAsia, Liulishuo is turning a profit, claiming 45 million users (of whom 600,000 are paying users.)
