SCHOOLHOUSE RAP: Think Schoolhouse Rock but with fresher beats—and on your phone. Flocabulary, the website that brings educational hip-hop videos to the masses, is launching its mobile app this week, allowing students to listen and learn on the go. Designed for K-12 students, the app features more than 800 educational hip-hop videos, on topics ranging from multiplication to SAT vocabulary to interpersonal skills.
According to Flocabulary CEO Alex Rappaport, the product was designed in response to teacher and student feedback. “For years we’ve heard from educators that their students ask how they can watch Flocabulary videos at home,” Rappaport said in a prepared statement. “This app puts Flocabulary’s educational resources directly into the hands of kids and parents.” In addition to videos, the app also includes interactive activities, like a definition matching game and a lyrics feature that lets students rap along with the videos.
It’s now available on both iOS and Android for $4.99 per month.
