PREPLY, a startup based in Kiev, has raised $1.3 million, TechCrunch reports. The company has created a platform for booking one-on-one tutoring in person and by video chat, though the video chat is conducted via third-party platforms. Investors included Arthur Kosten, Polish VC RTAventures and Mariusz Gralewski, the founder & CEO of DocPlanner.
The company is operating in Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Mexico and Brazil, and plans to use the funding to open doors in three more places: Germany, UK and Spain. Preply claims to have more than 25,000 tutors and 70,000 students registered on its platform, all of whom partake in 10,000 hours of lessons per month. Languages are its most popular subject, according to TechCrunch.
