Agile Mind Partners With Jefferson Education Accelerator to Scale Social-Emotional Learning

Jan 21, 2016

JEFFERSON’S NEW PARTNER: The Jefferson Education Accelerator (JEA) has announced its next partner: Agile Mind, whose instructional and professional development materials for middle and high school math and science has been used by more than 3.5 million students and 30,000 educators since 2002.

As a result of the partnership, JEA will be making an equity investment in the Grapevine, TX-based company. JEA did not disclose the amount, but according to its website it offers “up to $2,000,000 in financing.”

Aside from funding, JEA will connect the company with its network of researchers to validate the effectiveness of Agile Mind’s tools. The company already claims plenty of studies and testimonials, but is looking to scale its findings and impact. “Our work with Agile Mind will be focused on taking what they’ve learned about the role of social emotional and noncognitive skills in math and science, and contributing to the broader discourse,” Bart Epstein, CEO of Jefferson Education Accelerator, tells EdSurge in an email.

Editor's Note: JEA recently updated the maximum amount of money it will invest in its partner companies. This post has been updated to reflect the current number.
