PLANET3: $10 million to Washington, DC-based Planet3 in a Series A round from Switch, a Nevada-based developer of data centers. Co-founded by Tim Kelly, former President of the National Geographic Society, Planet3 is building a series of interactive 3D experiences and game-based tools aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards. The team boasts film producers, game developers, research scientists and teachers. The first product, which will cover earth, life and physical science for middle-school students, is scheduled for fall 2016. More details in the press release.
