​Sphero Raises $45M to Develop Programmable Robots

SPHERO: $45 million to Boulder, CO-based Sphero in a round led by Mercato Partners, with Disney and Foundry Group also participating. Since 2010, the company has offered Sphero, a programmable ball, as well as Ollie, designed to look more like a small skateboard, which both aim to help kids learn to code. Sphero, which has participated in both the TechStars and Disney accelerators, also created the BB-8 Android in the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” More from TechCrunch.
