The new year brings new beginnings for three of the biggest movers in the edtech scene in recent years:
- Doug Levin, who's served as executive director of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) for the past five years, will be seeking greener pastures. As he mulls his next gig, SETDA has appointed Lan Nugent, a former assistant superintendent of technology at Virginia's Department of Education, as the interim executive director.
- Another executive director, Steven Pines of the Education Industry Association, will later this year step down from his post, which he has held for over a decade. EdWeek reports he will continue working in education as a consultant.
- John Deasy, the embattled former LA Unified superintendent at the center of the district's iPad debacle, will be "consulting for The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems as a superintendent-in-residence."
