ROUND OF APPLAUSE: On December 8, Verizon announced the winners of its 2014 Powerful Answers Award, showcasing the work of 12 companies--including three in the field of education technology. On January 27, Verizon will announce the top prize winner in each category here. $1 million will go to the top winners, and others will each receive $250,000.
Verizon’s edtech picks address needs of students of all ages, from elementary school students to adult learners: Books that Grow, a platform providing downloadable eBooks customized for each user’s reading ability; School Yourself, providing personalized lessons based on analytics of a student’s use and abilities; and Sesame Enable, providing touch-free smartphone and tablet technology assisting differently abled children and adults in use of applications and games.
