Mexico's Nationwide Edtech Efforts Hit Roadblocks

DIOS MIOS: Mexico's President, Peña Nieto once promised to give a laptop to every fifth- and sixth-grader in the country. Edtective calls our attention to Nieto's MyCompu initiative, a 753 million peso (roughly US $58 million) effort that so far has delivered over 240,000 laptops. But intention and implementation are two very different things, and the program finds itself challenged on several fronts: lack of Internet access and power, few content in indigenous languages and lack of support services for broken devices.
