Private Equity Snaps Up Executive E-learning Company

Mar 16, 2014

SKILLSOFT, an online learning company that helps professionals learn IT and other business skills, was bought for $2 billion by London-based Charterhouse Capital Partners, a private equity group. SkillSoft had been taken private in 2010 in a $1.1 billion transaction by a trio of buyout firms, namely Berkshire Partners, Advent International and Bain Capital reports the Financial Times. The company's history reads like a chess game of acquisitions. Although headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, the management team is based in Nashua, NH. Here's the press release.

UPDATE: In April Standard & Poor's released a note that Charterhouse Capital Partners will pay approximately $2.33 billion to acquire Skillsoft.
