Mar 8, 2014

PLAY-I: $8 million to Play-i in a Series A round from Madrona Venture Group and Charlies Rivers Ventures. The Wall Street Journal reports the round was done at a $25 million valuation. The Mountain View, CA-based startup founded in 2012 previously raised a $1 million seed round and another $1.4 million in a crowdfunding campaign. Play-i offers programmable--and affordable--robots designed to teach children how to code. The company is also building a developer community to let others build educational apps for the robots. Nasdaq has a video interview with the founders and the two robots, Bo and Yana.
