Student-Led Organization Launches #ResistTFA on Twitter

Feb 18, 2014

PIECE DE RESISTANCE: A flurry of angry Teach for America tweeters took to Twitter yesterday as part of a #ResistTFA movement. Organized by college student-led Students United for Public Education (SUPE), the hashtag topped the Twitter trend list in the U.S. beginning around 9pm EST, and gained the notice of Diane Ravitch, who subsequently posted about it on her blog (the press release, that is). According to the release, participants in the #ResistTFA Twitter chat included students, education professionals, parents, and TFA alums (including well-known alum critic Gary Rubinstein). To see all tweets, visit the #ResistTFA stream.

Editor's Note: On Wednesday, February 19, Teach for America posted two response pieces on their official blog--one on initial reactions to the hashtag, and another responding to false claims about TFA.
