Freeing Up Test Prep

Freeing Up Test Prep

Aug 21, 2013

BenchPrep takes a new approach to gaining access to schools. Rather than going the freemium route--which gives everyone part of the product for free--BenchPrep plans to give full free access to a select few. BenchPrep has launched its Teach It Forward campaign: teachers anywhere in the US are invited to apply to use BenchPrep's test prep platform for an entire class for the entire year for free. (Licenses usually run $150 per student per year).

Who's eligible? The company will choose about 40 teachers (representing 1,000 students) in Title 1 schools who have little access to SAT or ACT test prep materials. Teachers need only fill out a brief form (here it is) that describes themselves, their schools and the resources they use. Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis and will likely be completed by mid September.

What BenchPrep will get out is data and lots of it. The company hopes that the data generated by the 1,000 students who will take part will create a compelling case of efficacy for future customers.
