Florida Legislature Gives $2M for Algebra Prep Program

Jul 21, 2013

MONEY NATION: The Florida state Legislature has invested $2 million in Algebra Nation, the partnership launched in January 2013 between the University of Florida's Lastinger Center for Learning and Gainsville, FL-based startup, Study Edge. Algebra Nation offers Florida students a free, online platform with video lessons and exercises designed to prepare them for the state's end of year Algebra I exam. The press release states that "more than half of Florida's middle and high school algebra teachers, representing 900 schools in all 67 school districts" have used the program. The funds will go towards paying teachers to contribute content and instructional videos, adding features for cross-classroom collaboration, and shipping free workbooks to teachers and students, among other efforts.
