XMILE LEARNING: Florianópolis, Brazil-based Xmile Learning raised $650K from three undisclosed angel investors in the UK and Brazil to support the launch of its e-learning platform designed to serve Brazilian elementary school children. Xmile will offer narrative games based on curriculum aligned with Brazil's Ministry of Education, woven into a Learning Management System. Students take part in adventure games and learn by helping the games' protagonists solve their problems. The company, which started in January, released its prototype in March. CEO Nicolas Peluffo says Xmile is building games for grades 1 through 3 focusing on Portuguese language, math, social sciences and natural sciences. Trials are scheduled to begin in August, with the goal of launching commercially in January 2014.
