Meet Education Design Studio's Second Class of Startups

FEELIN' PHILLY: Philadelphia-based edtech incubator, Education Design Studio Inc. announced its second class of accepted startups, each of whom will get $10,000 upfront. The incubator will also set aside $600,000 for follow-on investments. All of the participants were picked from the 2014 Milken-Penn Graduate School of Education Business Plan Competition, according to Technically Philly. The nine are:

  • 21st Century Brilliance: Developer of tools and services to promote "student-centered technology entrepreneurship"
  • CuriousBee: Search directory for local classes
  • edUMize: Developer of "high-tech, low-cost solutions to pressing educational issues"
  • JustMaybeCo.: Community publishing imprint and literacy intervention accelerator
  • Open Assembly: Platform for curating, modifying and sharing open educational resources
  • Propagate Inc.: Tool that allows teachers to embed vocabulary to digital reading materials
  • Ubongo: Developer of educational content for kids, delivered via TV, radio and the Internet
  • 321 eLearning: Creator of tools and services for members of the Down Syndrome community
  • EdConnective: Online coaching for teachers
