Does Your MOOC Measure Up?

KALTURA CONSIDERS HOW MOOCS USE VIDEO: Flipped classrooms. MOOCs. There's no doubt that video gets used frequently in ed systems nowadays--but is it effective? On Monday, open source video platform Kaltura released its "State of Video in Education" 2014 Report. The report includes data reflecting survey responses from about 550 individuals, 86.15% of which come from higher learning institutions (universities and colleges).

MOOCS fell short in the use cases, with only 17% of the survey respondents’ institutions using videos for MOOCs. The majority of video was used in the classroom (74%) and supplementary material (72%). And what about effectiveness? Though 90% of respondents said that video improves the learning experience, approximately 50% do not measure ROI (Return on Investment). Want to get more stats? Request a copy of the report here.
