Fidelis Raises $6M to Expand Education Platform

May 9, 2013

FIDELIS: $6 million B round to San Francisco-based Fidelis Education from American Public University System (APUS), which invested $4M, and the rest from Roger Novak, founder of Novak Biddle Venture Partners and who already serves on the Fidelis board. The company, which started in 2011 focusing exclusively on providing education services to help military personnel transition to civilian occupations, will now be opening up its platform for a broader audience. Interested parties so far include top tier universities and Fortune 500 companies. CEO Gunnar Counselman shared with EdSurge that the company will scale back on services like mentorship, tutoring, coaching, and admissions counseling to focus on the technology platform--which its enterprise clients can use to deliver these services as they choose. Fidelis plans to publicly launch its re-tooled platform in July. Its first customer: APUS, which serves over 160K students across its two schools.
