Prior to becoming an Academic Technology Specialist for the Educational Technology Services team at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, I spent years as a teacher, curriculum coach, administrator, professional development coordinator, technology director, educational technology coordinator and a technology integration specialist for various school districts in California. I LOVE what I do! We provide customized training and professional development on blended learning environments, social media development, producing digitally informed technology leadership and implementation of 21st century skills for teaching and learning in our K-12 schools.
Karen Larson is an Academic Technology Specialist for the Santa Clara County (CA) Office of Education, working with teachers supporting the integration of technology in their classrooms. Previously Karen served for 18 years as an educator and administrator in elementary education. She sits on the Board of Directors of Silicon Valley Computer Using Educators, is a professional developer for Leading Edge Certification and certified educator with Common Sense Media. She co-authors Common Core and Ed Tech, a blog that supports the use of technology as a means to transform learning. Karen received her B.S. and Educational Leadership and Administration certification from Santa Clara University.
Amy is the Director of Instructional Technology for the Cupertino Union School District. Prior to working in education, Amy programmed polar-orbiting weather satellites as a software engineer. Amy also spent four years working at Silicon Valley Education Foundation as the Director of STEM Integration. Amy has a bachelors degree from UC Berkeley and has masters degrees from Carnegie Mellon University in Software Management and in education from the Learning, Design and Technology program at Stanford University. Phil began his work in education as a 7th grade science teacher at KIPP, where is also served as Science Department Chair and pioneered the integration of technology and use blended learning in small group instruction at KIPP Summit Academy. He now works for the Regional Office of KIPP Bay Area School as Innovation Manager, supporting the region's personalized learning initiatives and leading NGSS science planning and implementation.

After graduating from the University of Oregon in 2010, Kevin joined Teach for America and moved to California to teach special education in east San Jose. After working in traditional public education for a few years, Kevin sought other opportunities to support students with learning exceptionalities, which brought him to Rocketship, where he was the founding Integrated Special Education Specialist at Alma Academy. His work in the classroom inspired him to transition onto Rocketship's National Team where he supports communications and creative strategy.
Toni Barone is the Director of Technology and Curriculum Integration at the Jefferson Elementary School District. Prior to joining JESD, Toni has served as a classroom teacher, instructional technology coordinator, and edtech consultant, providing leadership in professional development and strategic planning. Toni earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary's College and a Masters in Educational Technology from San Diego State University.
Kristen Buri has worked with Rocketship Education for over 6 years. She has been a classroom teacher and school leader at 4 schools in the network. Her areas of focus include instructional leadership, professional development, and the implementation of a strong blended learning model. She is also a part-time education consultant.
