Joseph Di Salvo
Joseph Di Salvo began his 33-year career in education as a teacher at Osborne School in Juvenile Hall. He serves on the Joint Committee on Child Care, Joint Legislative Advisory Committee and the Juvenile Justice Systems Collaborative. He has been a teacher, director, elementary and middle school principal, union president for Santa Clara County teachers, and administrative president for multiple school districts. He also served for three years as a personnel commissioner for the SCCOE. In 2001, he was recognized as the ACSA Region 8 Administrator of the Year.
Esther Wojcicki has been teaching Journalism and English at Palo Alto High School, Palo Alto, California for the past 30 years, where she has been the driving force behind the development of its award-winning journalism program, which is now the largest in the U.S. with 600 students and five teachers. She is also the Vice Chair of Creative Commons Board of Directors, Chair of PBS Learning Matters, CEO of ClassBadges.com and a leader in the intersection of education and technology for years. She worked as the Google educational consultant and helped design the Google Teacher Outreach program, which includes the website www.google.com/educators and the Google Teacher Academy.
Bob Nichols, education manager of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, was a social studies teacher in the Campbell Union High School District for 38 years and served on the Boards of Directors of the National Education Association and the California Teachers Association. He was a member of the San Jose Mayor’s Education Task Force, the Santa Clara County Office of Education Blue Ribbon Task Force and was appointed by the Speaker of the California State Assembly to serve on the No Child Left Behind Implementation Advisory Committee.
Jessica Lura is an 8th grade English and history teacher at Bullis Charter School in Los Altos, California where she has worked for nine years. Prior to working BCS, she worked for six years as an elementary teacher in the Ravenswood City School District. She was the Santa Clara County Office of Education Charter School Teacher of the Year for 2013. She is passionate about literacy, educational reform, and technology.
