Brief Biography

Dr. Sarah Newcomer is assistant professor in Literacy Education at Washington State University Tri-Cities. Her research and teaching focus on language and literacy educational practices, particularly for culturally and linguistically diverse students. She has taught children and adults in various contexts, including fourth through eighth graders in a Spanish/English dual language program in Phoenix, Arizona, business professionals in Japan, and immigrant parents in a family literacy program in Phoenix. She has been published in International Journal of Bilingual Education, Multilingual Research Journal, Language Arts, and the Journal of Latinos and Education.
