Brief Biography

Julie Neisler, Ph.D., is the Director of Quantitative Research on the Learning Sciences Research Team and the Digital Promise Privacy Officer. After several years as a practitioner in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Julie sought to pursue her passion for research by earning her doctorate in Measurement, Quantitative Methods, and Learning Sciences from the University of Houston, where she also served on the Institutional Review Board. Her mission is to use data to advance learner equity and inclusivity in all education settings from PK through college and beyond. She enacts this mission by applying rigorous data collection methodologies and analytic techniques to support education innovation and advances in teaching and learning, currently on the Statistics Teaching and Technology Studies project. She most values collaborative relationships that support the efforts of institutions, educators, and students. Her other recent work includes Teaching and Learning in the Time of COVID: The Student Perspective, Partnering to Promote Equity and Digital Learning, and What Does It Mean to Assess Understanding of Statistical Ethics? Design Challenges and Differential Item Functioning.
