Brief Biography

Henry M. Smith, EdD, is an assistant professor of educational leadership and policy at the Johns Hopkins School of Education, where he previously served both as associate dean for development/alumni affairs and also as executive director for partnerships in educational transformation. He is also a consultant to numerous edtech entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations. He served as a U.S. Assistant Secretary of Education (1993-95), founding director of corporate relations at Tufts University, and assistant to the president at the National Labor College; and he has consulted on marketing and institutional advancement for George Washington University, Rutgers University, the University of Haifa and numerous community colleges. Smith was also Mayor of Dover, N.H., and New Hampshire State Director for Public Transit. Henry is also the proud grandfather of seven.
