Brief Biography

Before coming to Global Online Academy (GOA), Eric spent his career in the classroom, teaching English and Spanish to middle school, high school, and college students. He has taught at Kingswood Oxford School and the University of California, Berkeley, and most recently taught English at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge, MA, where he discovered the power of technology to elevate student voice and agency.

At GOA, Eric is focused on turning research-based, learner-centered ideas and strategies into high-quality learning experiences. He leads the development of new programs and products and facilitates professional learning partnerships on assessment, competency-based learning, and instructional design. In 2015, he created and was the first teacher of the GOA student course Advocacy.

Eric writes and speaks frequently about the changing roles of teachers and students in a modern world. His essay “Teaching as Wayfinding” appears in the online journal Hybrid Pedagogy. Eric lives on Cape Cod, MA.
