Reflection Sciences Raises $1.3 Million Seed Round for Executive Function Training

Jun 17, 2019

MIRROR MIRROR: Reflection Sciences, a St. Paul, Minn.-based executive function development, training and tools provider, has raised $1.3 million in a seed round led by Edmentum, which is Reflection’s K012 distribution partner. University of Minnesota’s Discovery Capital Fund also participated.

Founded in 2014 by faculty members of the university’s Institute of Child Development, Reflection will use the money toward hiring and developing more interventions, according to a statement Thursday. The company uses the Minnesota Executive Function Scale as a measurement tool for executive function for people ages 2 and older.

This isn’t the University of Minnesota’s first foray into edtech. Another faculty member started Flipgrid, which sold to Microsoft last year, and the university’s Center for Open Education helped to create Open Textbook Library.

Last year, Edmentum raised $25 million in debt financing.
