Parent of SchoolMessenger Acquired by Apollo Global Management

Oct 10, 2017

WEST CORPORATION, which providers a suite of communication services across every major industry—including education—has been acquired by Apollo Global Management. The deal is worth approximately $5.2 billion, according to the press release. The private equity firm also holds the University of Phoenix and McGraw-Hill Education, among many other companies spanning the entertainment, real estate, travel, technology and other industries.

In 2014, West acquired SchoolMessenger, which offers voice, text and online tools to help K-12 districts notify parents and students. There are currently no plans for any changes to this product, which is currently used in more than 60,000 schools across North America.

West, formerly a publicly traded company, will be delisted from the Nasdaq exchange as a result of the transaction.
