Vipkid: Vipkid, a Beijing-based language learning company, has raised $20M in Series B funding led by Northern Light Venture Capital with participation from Matrix Partners China, Innovation Works, and Sequoia Capital. Founded in 2013, Vipkid provides one-to-one video English language learning session for Chinese children between ages 5 to 12 years old. Vipkid’s tutors are certified by the company with North American elementary school teacher credentials. Vipkid currently has over 4,000 paying students and approximately 1,000 instructors. Vipkid will use the funding to grow its network of teachers.
