EdSurge Partners with UP Global’s Startup Education Program

Two weeks ago we shared Startup Education’s new name and new programs. This week we’re thrilled to announce that EdSurge is partnering with Startup Education to support its global entrepreneurship community and action-based programming. We’re excited to be building this partnership because sharing best practices and information is key to building lasting and valuable innovation.

Here at EdSurge we believe strongly that the best way to develop better tools for learning that spans all ages is to bring everyone to the table to be part of the conversation. Participating in Startup Education’s 54-hour weekend events, which retains the name Startup Weekend Education (SWEDU), is a fabulous way to learn about the entrepreneurial process and to bring together educators, entrepreneurs, developers and designers.

As Startup Education continues to build out its Pathways Initiative, keeping community members well-versed on the variety of opportunities available to them on their journey to improve education, we’re proud to support their work through our Jobs, Opportunities, and Events boards. By bringing the EdSurge Edtech Index, Reports, and Guides to Startup Education’s Resource Hub, Bootcamps, and SWEDU events, entrepreneurs now also have access to comprehensive information about opportunities to pursue and pitfalls to avoid when building their ventures.

In addition, the new partnership provides selected Startup Education companies the opportunity to participate in Edsurge’s Tech for Schools Summits. "The Nashville Summit gave me an opportunity to garner invaluable feedback and learn so much from Tennessee teachers," shared Eric Nelson, founder of Fantasy Geopolitics. "I am so grateful for Startup Education's support; I would not have been able to participate otherwise."

“Entrepreneurs interested in education innovation can now learn what it takes to scale their endeavors, which is one of the most difficult things,” said Startup Education Director Mandela Schumacher-Hodge. “With the support of EdSurge, the Startup Education community will be much better equipped to take on the hefty challenge of disrupting education as we know it.”

Startup Education’s parent organization, UP Global, is a nonprofit dedicated to accelerating entrepreneurship and startup communities around the world.
