SUMMARY
Versal allows anyone to build an online course without the need to know how to code. Users can build courses collaboratively on any subject using pre-coded gadgets. Versal is free for both course creators and learners; additional features are available for a fee for individuals or organizations.
GOALS
Versal is an online course provider that lets anyone build a course without the need to code. Versal was created to open up course creation and teaching to a wider variety of people. The company’s courses are accessible to anyone, but are mostly intended for high school or post-secondary students.
APPROACH
After logging in, users can immediately get to work creating a course. Courses can be created individually, or working together with other users. Users start with blank lessons within the course and can add text, video, images, or even whole files to the course..
Users can also take advantage of any of Versal’s pre-existing “gadgets” These gadgets allow creators to develop interactive diagrams and simulations that make learning interactive. Gadgets are fully customizable to the lesson at hand and include quizzes, graphs, surveys, and others. Once created, Versal courses can be shared with anyone.
Versal offers additional features for those using Versal within an organization. “Versal for Organizations” allows easier management of multiple course collaborators and courses in a catalog. With this tool, users can also track the progress of individual learners through their courses, and embed courses directly into a non-Versal website or intranet.
Finally, users can also take any of Versal’s courses for free. Current courses cover a variety of topics, from SAT math, to Social Movements and Social Change, to an introduction to drumming.
