Teaching the Core is a free website that helps schools and teachers prepare for Common Core through videos of CCSS-aligned lessons in progress, teacher interviews, examples of student work, and lesson plans. As of March 2015, teachers in over 1,000 schools have signed up for Teaching the Core.
GOALS
Teaching the Core helps schools and teachers prepare for Common Core through videos of CCSS-aligned lessons in progress, teacher interviews, examples of student work, and lesson plans. They aim to help educators understand the question: “What does a Common Core-aligned lesson look like?”
APPROACH
Teachers can search for videos of recorded lessons by subject and search through the results by the title of the video and the grade level of the lesson. In addition to the video, teachers can watch an interview with the instructor, sample lesson plans, and examples of student work when available. As teachers progress through a recorded lesson, they can access annotations that identify core components of a lesson, as well as key teacher and student actions and behaviors.
IMPLEMENTATION
Teachers can sign up for free to gain access to all of the videos and instructional resources on their website.
PRICING
All of Teaching the Core’s resources are free to use for any teacher or school.
