Based on the Texas science standards, and developed by Rice University, STEMscopes addresses science topics for grades K-12 through a series of presentations, activities, web-based games, simulations and assessments. Recently, the company added SciRave iPad and Android apps to learn K-5 science concepts through music and dance activities.
School or district purchases a subscription to STEMscopes gain access to its online and print materials. These materials are organized into scopes that correspond to each specific objective. Within each scope, teachers can find resources and lesson plans to construct hands-on, inquiry-based "5E lessons," along with extra intervention and acceleration lessons. Lessons are typically organized around hands-on hands-on activities and experiments.
The subscription cost varies from $2.90 to $4.90 per student per year, depending on the grade level. The company also offers STAAR™ (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) prep courses for 5th and 8th grade that are a flat rate per campus fee. The SciRave apps can be purchased on Google Play or the Apple App Store for $1.99.
