Ed Leadership SIMS provides administrators, school faculty, and staff with interactive simulations of real-life school crisis scenarios. A narrator guides school personnel through the simulation as they watch, participate in, and discuss these realistic situations for professional development. It is available for purchase by school districts or school leaders.
APPROACH
School leaders begin using Ed Leadership SIMS by signing up and creating an account with a login and password. To view and share simulations with faculty and staff, leaders select the ‘simulations’ tab on the top menu. Once on the simulations dashboard, users select which simulation they wish to view and enter in their password. Simulations include relevant topics such as how to engage with disgruntled parents, budget crises, academic goal settings, and disruptive teachers issues.
A narrator guides viewers through the simulation. Viewers are asked by the narrator to progress through the simulation segments by clicking the next arrow in the top right of the screen. Throughout the simulation, viewers are asked to select dialogue or action responses to particular situations happening in the simulation. The simulation reacts according to the response path the viewer chooses. If viewers selects the wrong dialogue or action, the simulation updates accordingly, then asks viewers to go back and select a different path.
Viewers discuss the objective points at the end of the simulation with other viewers. Administrators can also facilitate discussions using prompts provided by Ed Leadership SIMS in the ‘facilitate a discussion’ tab in the simulation dashboard.
