ScribeSense is an online, subscription based, test grading service for teachers that grades open-ended test or homework questions. Teachers simply scan and email their completed tests and ScribeSense provides a detailed grade report with rapid turnaround.
GOALS
ScribeSense is an online test grading service for teachers that grades open ended questions by using a proprietary handwriting analysis algorithm. The aims to free time for teachers by making grading fast and creating responsive student profiles. Grades are immediately available to parents via email.
APPROACH
In order for the test to be graded by computer, teachers must make answer spaces clearly identified. After the test has been taken, the teacher stacks the student tests, a blank test, and an answer key and scans the pile to be sent to ScribeSense. According to the company, 100 handwritten tests can be graded in four hours.
Teachers can review test results on a password-protected website. Question answers can be reviewed and sorted by student, question, or state standard. Questions can be edited for each individual student and weighted appropriately. An editing option is available to teachers for complicated answers. The teacher can quickly score each student’s response by tabbing through the page, and then send the result directly to parents in an email.
IMPLEMENTATION
ScribeSense can be used on any web browser or capable device with an internet connection. Test delivery is email based and a scanner must be available to send tests for grading. Having student and parent emails is a plus.
PRICING
Teachers may subscribe to ScribeSense for a flat fee of $50 per month. School wide subscriptions are also available for a custom price. To find out more details on pricing and current rates visit the ScribeSense website.
