SchoolMint is an online dashboard that organizes all data and information regarding K-12 school admissions for administrators, parents, and students. From their respective profiles, administrators upload and view all necessary application and enrollment materials, and parents and students complete and submit one application for their district or schools of choice. SchoolMint is free.
APPROACH
Administrators use SchoolMint by going to the website and creating an account for their school or school district. They begin by selecting which type of administrative user-- super administrator, administrator, or reader-- they are. Super administrators and administrators then follow prompts to enter in all pertinent school information such as grades served, admission policies like zone lottery criteria, first come first serve policies, school match criteria, and school year start dates, and upload or create admission forms and applications to be completed by parent users. Here they also sync school calendars or application deadlines.
Users custom create their schools’ application by selecting the ‘application’ dashboard from their menu. Using the ‘application wizard,’ they select which questions they wish to include on their application, or customize create their own unique questions. They also create or upload custom forms for their application such as those for registration, medical records, and special or after school programs. From the communications portal, administrators can communicate with parents via email, text messages, or automated voice calls. The enrollment tracker tool allows administrators to view and manage submissions, acceptances, rejections, offers, and waitlists. SchoolMint syncs with School Choice and Common Enrollment practices.
By selecting the reporting dashboard, users can view SchoolMint-generated data, graphics and insights on application data such as applicants submitted by month, duplicate applications received, inactive applicants, per grade application breakdowns, percentages of students with enrolled siblings, classroom seat availability, and family demographics. SchoolMint also integrates with school integration systems such as PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, and School Master. Administrative users can export all applicant data to these systems.
Independent and private school administrative users utilize SchoolMint similarly to public or charter school users. They begin by creating accounts and entering in all appropriate school information, and using the application builder to manage their applications and registration. From their account, they can also manage waitlists, parent communications, access student recruitment tools, and schedule school events and interviews.
Parents begin using SchoolMint by logging in and following prompts to create a parent account using their email or mobile phone number. By selecting the search portal from their menu, parents filter and search nearby schools and their information. From their family dashboard, they can fill out and submit forms and one application for all public schools in their district or nearby independent and private schools. From here they also upload relevant documents such as residency verification and student immunization documents. By selecting the communications portal on their dashboard menu, parents can receive messages from administrators regarding applications or interview scheduling.
SchoolMint offers office manager, parent, and network support for all users and provides offline support for families with limited access to technology such as paper based application options.
PRICING
Parents can use SchoolMint for free. Schools and districts pay to use the tool; the price depends on the number of students enrolled as well as the number of tools within SchoolMint that the district decides to use.
