Usage: We use the regular version of turnitin to check mostly for plagiarism however more teachers are also grading papers using turnitin. I am interested in seeing the revision assistant product and how it can be use to improve writing.
Strengths: The feedback provided to the students is excellent and timely. The teachers get excellent feedback on every student and has a way to catch students beating the system..
Suggestions for Improvement: It is still in the early stages so it would need more writing prompts to span different subject areas and grade levels. Also to sync the information to turnitin would be helpful in the long run.
Verdict: We are looking at a program academic merit that does something similar that our teachers grade. This takes that process to a different level. To encourage students with positive comments to revise there work looks very promising.
Usage: This product would be a great product to use to help students improve their writing based on prompts that are created by turnitin.
Strengths: It is good that there are rubrics that are pre-made so teachers do not have to read every single essay from their students.
Suggestions for Improvement: 1. While prompts are good, add more content that fits varying curriculum.
2. Price is a little steep.
3. Allow students to submit their work from tunitin to the revision assistant.
Verdict: Due to texting, social media use and technology, Students are not great writers and this program will help them to improve their craft.
Response from Revision Assistant: Thank you for your feedback! We’re happy to share that Turnitin is constantly adding new prompts to Revision Assistant to give teachers additional flexibility and make it an even more valuable tool for improving writing outcomes. This includes prompts designed to support writing across the curriculum, as well as AP preparation. We also appreciate your comment about making it easier to submit work from Revision Assistant to Turnitin, and we are looking into it.
Usage: This would be a great addition to our Blended Learning Classrooms that we have in the middle and high school level.
Strengths: I like to real time feedback that the students can receive during their writing process.
Suggestions for Improvement: I would like to see topic suggestions that would meet the individual teachers needs in the classroom. I would like lower levels starting from 4-5 grades.

Strengths: Simplify grading if written work
Standardizes grading
Saves time
Suggestions for Improvement: Allow it to grade other written work than the built in prompts

Suggestions for Improvement: More elementary prompts. More opportunity for teachers to learn from the algorithms. Clearer sense of basic Ortega ovation and structure vs individual voice b
Verdict: May be too advanced level for our students who are acquiring basic literacy skills.
Usage: N/A.. I used it as a student in college.
Strengths: Well designed great idea good feedback
Suggestions for Improvement: Have prompts related to common curricula materials
Have teachers be able to design their own prompts
Have reporting feature to show student progress through revisions
Verdict: The product has pre-designed prompts. Teachers must have students respond to prompts based on approved curriculum reading materials.
Response from Revision Assistant: Thanks for your feedback! To clarify, Revision Assistant provides a library of text-dependent and non text-dependent prompts that teachers can integrate into their curriculum, so educators are not limited to “approved curriculum reading materials.” Turnitin is continuously growing the Revision Assistant prompt library to provide teachers with more options that easily fit into their curriculum. You can learn more at https://guides.turnitin.com/Revision_Assistant/Prompt_Library. Also, thank you for your comment about showing student progress over time. That’s a common request from our users, and it’s one we’re looking into.
Usage: Could be used in conjunction with writing workshop. This could be used to have students self monitor their progress and for teachers to receive information as to where students are struggling.
Strengths: I love the instant feedback it provides. I also find that the students of today not only need the instant feedback but crave it. It will also help to avoid plagiarism and increase paraphrasing skills which is something our EL students struggle with.
Suggestions for Improvement: I do not know the product well enough to provide improvements
Verdict: I would recommend it because i feel it would be beneficial to both students and teachers. Revising student writing is a very time consuming and personal process often requiring one to one conferencing. I believe this product would be an assistant to teachers and would give students the guidance they need as they draft their writing.
Usage: While students are writing essays and completing research papers, I have students use this product when submitting an assignment in order to get immediate feedback on their writing.
Strengths: It gives feedback and helps students to improve on their writing. When they submit their assignment they can see what mistakes they have made and how it can be improved.
Suggestions for Improvement: I think that this product is great as it is. It is very easy to use for teachers and students.
Verdict: It helps teachers with grading and reading papers, giving immediate feedback, and it allows students to learn their strengths and weaknesses with their writing.
Usage: This is a useful tool for assigning formative assessments and for skill building.
Strengths: This product allows teachers to assign multiple drafts of essays to students. These drafts are automatically scored, providing students with suggestions for improvement.
Suggestions for Improvement: Once this works seamlessly with Turnitin's GradeMark and PeerMark functions, this will be much more effective.
Verdict: This seems like a useful tool for formative assessments. Students submit multiple drafts of the same assignment, using the "signal check" comments to improve their compositions.
Usage: I would use this for whole school benchmarks. I would also use this for practice writing.
Strengths: It allows students to focus on both their strengths and weaknesses. Students will know instantly what they have to work on.
Suggestions for Improvement: I would have more prompts. I would be able to modify the pre writing and differentiate the wording of the prompts for different reading levels.
Verdict: I would recommend it because many times we have district wide benchmarks but essays are graded so differently by each teacher even if we are following the same ruberic.
