News-O-Matic is a daily newspaper for elementary and middle school students, delivered electronically. Each story comes with Common Core-aligned questions for students to answer. News-O-Matic is available via iOS, Android and Kindle Fire apps.
APPROACH
News-O-Matic delivers 5 current events stories covering a variety of topics to students each day. Each story comes with Common Core-aligned questions for students to answer; teachers can track students’ progress on these quizzes. Students are also encouraged to rate articles, ask questions of the News-O-Matic team, and submit news-related drawings.
News-O-Matic articles are available in both English and Spanish; the product includes audio playback of every article in both languages. News-O-Matic provides history timelines, games, interactive maps, and other features to enhance its news stories.

I would add more comprehension questions. I would also have the assessment questions include more of a variety of complexity (Bloom's Taxonomy and DOK). I'm not sure how beneficial it is to have the kids draw responses, at least for the middle and upper elementary grades. Overa...
