Online courses for adults working toward certifications

Overview

Goals: Workforce Access provides online courses for adult learners working towards certification for gaining employment. The courses aim to help learners prepare to enter a certification/degree program so they can get a job in the field their desired field.

Approach: Workforce Access offers courses in six career areas including manufacturing, health sciences, information technology, TDL (transportation, distribution, and logistics), hospitality and tourism, business management/administration, as well as general workplace skills.

Implementation: Courses can be taken independently or as part of a post-secondary or community program for adult learners. There are thirteen courses within the program, and each course is self-paced, but was designed to be completed in 8-10 weeks.

Pricing: Courses are sold individually as 6-month licenses at $50.00 per seat.

Who is Using It: Workforce Access is used by adult learners at Community Colleges, Community Based Organizations, Departments of Education and Labor for skills training. The program can also be used to prepare learners for their career readiness certification exams, and by employers for workforce development. Though it can be used by independent learners, it was designed to be used in conjunction with an adult learning program such as a career-bridge program.
