Pre-made, supplemental adaptive courseware for a broad range of McGraw-Hill content; also includes an adaptive e-book
Project Unicorn Vendor Signatory
LearnSmart by McGraw-Hill is supplemental adaptive courseware that serves as an online study tool for homework or lab sessions. When students are asked practice questions, their responses must include a measure of how confident they are about their answer. The courseware also assesses when students are likely to forget what they have learned. LearnSmart includes SmartBook, an adaptive e-book within the courseware that highlights areas on which students should focus based on prior performance and confidence. Instructors can view reports on class progress, and students can access reports on their own activity. Instructors can use the courseware when teaching in fully online, blended or face-to-face formats.
LearnSmart’s adaptive functionality considers factors such as learner confidence, time to complete learning exercises, performance on questions, mastery of prior learning objectives, past performance of students with a similar learner profile, and elapsed time since last interaction with relevant content and knowledge. Instructors can allow students to skip content that the technology does not think the student has mastered, resequence content, and control the degree to which the content is assessed for mastery.
