Logics Academy provides curriculum-aligned workshops in STEM education for K-12 students and teachers, specifically by building robotic and aerospace equipment. Different workshops can be chosen for each grade level, and are delivered by Logics Academy’s facilitators. Prices include facilitators and materials required, but varies for each individual workshop.
APPROACH
Workshops can be requested by schools or teachers through Logics Academy’s website. Each grade level is provided with a variety of workshops. Every workshop is aligned with curriculum, but only with the Ontario curriculum as of July, 2015. Different options for workshops include in-school, after-school, school breaks and others.
In-school options range from learning energy through building hand powered flashlights in first grade to learning university physics by making bottle rockets in 12th grade. The workshops are 2 hours in length for elementary school students and 75 minutes for secondary school students. After-school options last for a term and take place on a weekly basis for students and parents.
Logics Academy also provides half day, full day or after school PD workshops for educators. Topics cover integrating STEM into the classroom, introduction to Arduino and introduction to Graphical Programming.
IMPLEMENTATION
Workshops are conducted in person. Individual robotic kits can also be bought separately on the website.
PRICING
Prices include facilitators and materials required, but varies for each individual workshop. They can be found in the cost section of each workshop’s webpage.
For example, a first grade hand powered flashlight project costs $300, while a 11th grade bump-bot project costs $300 + $15/student. Prices for individual robotic kits can be found here.
WHO IS USING IT
