LiveSchool’s software tracks attendance and student behavior with the goal of supporting improvements in school culture. This tablet-based application enables schools to track school culture with three main modes: Behavior, Banking, and Hallways (see “features”).
Behavior Mode allows teachers to make and share comments on each individual student. Second, Banking Mode provides teachers with a way to incentivize good behavior; students bring home a paycheck with weekly earnings (known aptly as “behavior bucks”) that can be withdrawn and redeemed for rewards. Finally, Hallways Mode takes the confusion out of a busy, quick class transition; teachers can identify students who are spending excessive time out of class.
In addition to teachers, administrators also can use LiveSchool by tracking behavior with “LiveBar,” a real time newsfeed aggregating comments and marks from each of a student’s teachers. Administrators can see schoolwide behavior analytics, which takes the guesswork out of behavior tracking.
LiveSchool is available for an annual subscription that depends on the number of users in a school: under 25 users is $99 per user per year; 26 to 50 users is $89 per user per year; 51 to 100 users is $79 per user per year. (Larger accounts may be able to negotiate further discounted deals.) The company also offers a 45-day no-obligation trial.
Current CEO Matt Rubenstein founded the company with his brother in 2011, after having served as a KIPP charter school teacher and experiencing the “paycheck” behavior management system. To date LiveSchool Inc. raised $1.65 million in seed funding and has gone on to receive accolades at NYC’s GapApp Challenge, winning second place in the “Administration/Engagement App” category.
Are you a teacher or administrator who has used this product? Be the first to share your experiences with others by writing a Case Study:
Add a category for office referrals. It doesn't have to go to the principal, but that data is really important. Also, perhaps a place for teachers or admin to comment on what the outcome of the referral is (phone call, ISS, etc)
Allow teachers to add comments later. It can be really difficult...
