Reading proficiency is a key indicator of a student's success; unfortunately, many American middle and high schools still struggle with reading.
Co-founders Habib Moody and Tyler Borek originally hoped to deliver to students online reading content that they would find fresh and engaging. They called the company ReadSpin and were part of the fourth cohort of Imagine K12 (during 2013). Along the way, they also built a dashboard for measuring reading performance.
Before the company debuted, the founders changed focus, instead focusing on scoring oral reading assessments. They renamed the company Literably. The product is slated to be released in 2014.
