by Grockit, Inc.
Learnist is an online tool developed by SF-based Grockit, which first made its name in the education space with an online test prep service. In May 2012, the company unveiled Learnist, described by many as a "Pinterest for education" based on the similar layout and features. Learnist allows teachers (or anyone) to post selected web materials onto a digital pinboard that they can then comment on and share with others. Social studies teacher (and EdSurge contributor) Dawn Casey Rowe provides a thorough summary of the ways that Learist can be used in a high school classroom.

As of December 2012, Learnist was in closed beta, although those interested can request an invitation code. The company reports that "thousands of teachers and students, and hundreds of schools and districts" have used the product.
