GOALS
FrontRow offers a range of products built to facilitate communication in the classroom. Two of these products are Juno and Teacher Edition, which were designed to make it easy for teachers to help students who miss critical content in class or to experiment with different teaching models, like flipped classrooms.
APPROACH
Juno is an audio device, similar in shape to a cylindrical speaker, that allows teachers to record their voices while teaching. Through a series of simple verbal commands, teachers can tell Juno to record any part of their class. After a lesson is recorded, teachers can then share the audio with students online.
Teacher Edition is a software program that can be used with Juno to record not only audio, but also a video of a teacher’s computer screen during a lesson. By using Teacher Edition and Juno together, a teacher can record their voice, any media audio, and their computer screen through one user interface. Teacher Edition can then be used to title and upload recordings directly to a cloud storage system like Google Drive, which students can use to access content at any time. All recordings are are formatted as MP4s for any device.
IMPLEMENTATION
As a piece of hardware, Juno devices can only be used by one teacher at a time. Teacher Edition is available as an app for both Windows and Mac devices, and can be used on mobile internet browsers.
PRICE
The Juno system costs $1299 to purchase, while Teacher Edition costs $99.
WHO IS USING IT
Juno with Teacher Edition is used by over 5000 students across the country.
