InjureFree is a reporting application designed to provide school administrators, coaches, and parents an online tool to communicate and track injuries from athletic activities. Users are required to input and submit specific information regarding the injury and send them to other users as well as outside medical providers. InjureFree is compliant with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. InjureFree requires a yearly subscription to use.
Approach
Administrators and athletic trainers must create an account, enter their organization info, and complete an online training session. Similarly, coaches must also undergo the same process, but instead of completing an online training session, coaches must be verified by an administrator. After an account is created, users can report an injury or view past injuries. To report an injury, an administrator must select a high school, which sport and season, an athlete, and exposure date and type. The administrator or coach will also be required to enter additional injury details, such as type, area, symptoms, potential treatments, and whether or not the athlete will return to play. Users can also input other optional information, including King-Devick Test Scores for concussions, custom choices questions, and mechanism of injury among others. Data is submitted to the Agency of Health Research, and reviewed by InjureFree to monitor trends.
Parents can also create an account with InjureFree and register their child. InjureFree will provide an InjureFree Injury Report Card and a monthly email regarding injury prevention and safety. Parents whose child is enrolled in a school system that uses InjureFree will also receive notifications from school administrators and coaches.
