GOALS

Communication APPtitude’s series of InferCabulary iPad apps are designed to improve K - 12 students’ vocabulary through analogous visual associations. This researched-based method aims to create deep understanding of vocabulary in order to improve writing and reading comprehension.

APPROACH

Instead of teaching vocabulary through traditional word to definition associations, InferCabulary presents five related images that students use to infer the meaning of the word. Students can get further context clues through both written and audio captions for each photo. They can also access an easy to understand definition, as well as more information in-depth information about the word. There are also two games modes available that help students reinforce their understanding of the words.

IMPLEMENTATION

The InferCabulary iPad apps are available for download on the Apple App Store.
