The Hypothes.is a free, web-based annotation tool enables students to directly highlight, comment on and discuss any web page. As of June, 2015, Hypothes.is has begun to work with teachers to make use of their annotation technology in the classroom.
APPROACH
Once a student has enabled the Hypothes.is annotation tool, they can interact with any web page. They can highlight certain passages and leave private notes and tags directly on the page. They can also add public notes and tags to which other students can respond. Students can have back and forth conversations around a particular note, receiving notifications when they receive a response.
IMPLEMENTATION
Students can either paste a link into the Hypothes.is website or download the Chrome extension to start annotating.
PRICING
Students can use the Hypothes.is annotation tool for free.
