SUMMARY:
FutureMakers enables schools and teachers that are focused on project-based and maker learning initiatives to easily access experts and the needed physical tools and materials. Teachers and schools can either work directly with FutureMakers’ team of STEAM experts to design an experience that addresses their specific needs or utilize their pre-designed activities. As of January 9, 2015, over 1,000 students and teachers have experienced FutureMakers workshops in over 10 schools.
GOALS:

The product was designed to help schools retain their pioneering educators and help make students makers without acquiring all of the expensive technology. FutureMakers charges schools per service and they offer four different tiers of services: one-time workshops, weekly visits, multi-day residencies and embedded experts.
APPROACH:
FutureMakers has developed a mobile maker space and corresponding curriculum and projects for the classroom, as well as for extracurricular environments. They can provide schools, teachers and students with the physical and digital fabrication tools, as well as expertise from the designers, engineers, technologists and artists from the FutureMakers team. Their service ranges from one time maker activities designed to reinforce a topic or embedded experts and coaches that become an integral part of the classroom. Teachers can choose to use the projects developed by the FutureMakers team or work with them to develop activities that specifically meet their desired learning objectives.
