Famigo EDU is a closed tablet environment in which students can explore educational resources. The product was founded to help teachers plan lessons, find appropriate educational materials for their children, and provide a safe environment for resource exploration. Famigo EDU is designed for Pre-K students through 5th graders.
After signing up for Famigo, teachers can immediately begin creating lessons for students using an internet browser. Teachers can also share lesson plans with their colleagues within their school. Teachers can deliver apps, websites, or PDF’s to individual students’ tablets.
Educational apps available in Famigo are culled from the company’s “traditional” Famigo tool and are pre-approved to be student friendly and of educational value. As in the other Famigo tool, standard marketing features such as social sharing and in-app purchases are blocked while the app is active in Famigo.
Inside of Famigo EDU, students are free to explore the resources that have been provided to them. They can also use their Famigo notebook to create their own content on the app. Students may not leave the Famigo EDU app. Teachers can lock students’ screens or lock them into a specific lesson in order to ensure that students are on task.
Famigo EDU is designed for a 1:1 classroom environment. The product is currently available only on Android-based tablets; the company plans to roll out an iPad version in 2015.
Famigo EDU is available to license.
