Online portfolio tool for K-12 students

Overview

SUMMARY

Exibit is an online portfolio tool allowing students to upload, reflect on, and share work from school. Teachers and administrators retain control over who has access to materials at all times. Exibi is available for free or for a per student per year fee.

GOALS

Exibi is an online portfolio tool for K-12 students. The product is designed to encourage 21st century skills in students, to ease teachers’ evaluation of these skills and to allow parents to see the results of their children’s class work.

APPROACH

Students organize work (“artifacts” in the tool) from one class or many in their Exibi workspace. They are then encouraged to reflect on their work, grouping artifacts with similar themes together, and write about their learning achievements. This activity is designed to support Common Core skills around supporting claims with evidence. Finally, students share their groups of artifacts and reflections in online exhibits.

Teachers are able to control the privacy settings for their students to ensure that only the correct audiences may view exhibits.

IMPLEMENTATION

Exibi can be used on any modern browser, and requires an internet connection to be used.

PRICING

Exibi is available for free for individual teachers or students who would like to use the product. Administrators or school leaders can also license the product for $3/student/year.  The paid version of the product allows students to post unlimited exhibits and collections, and link parent accounts to their students.

WHO IS USING IT

As of October 2014, Exibi was being used by more than 25,000 students in over 100 schools.
