CourseKicker provides a free, web-based library of teacher created lesson materials and a collaborative social network for teachers. They can search for lessons for grades K - 12 by subject, grade, Common Core standard or by the teacher that created the lesson. As of June 2015, CourseKicker has been used by over 5,000 teachers in over 100 schools.
APPROACH
Teachers sign up for CourseKicker and can immediately browse the site’s extensive library of lessons. Teachers can search through the site’s internal search engine, or can filter to lessons by a number of criteria (subject, grade, standards, etc.) When they click on individual lessons, teachers can comment, “like” them, or recommend them to others. Lessons with higher ratings from teachers will appear at the top of a teacher's particular search.
Teachers can easily create their own lessons by linking to content or uploading files.
A library feature keeps track of all of the materials that a teacher has saved to use, as well as those that she has created. Saved materials can be accessed on any computer signed in to the CourseKicker account. Teachers can also follow other teachers whose work they have used in the past. They will be notified whenever a teacher that they are following has uploaded new content.
IMPLEMENTATION
CourseKicker is a browser-based tool.
PRICING
CourseKicker’s core features will always be free to use. In the future, the company plans to add premium items.
